Mahesh was elected to the apex position as the President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for the year 2004-05. He was a member of the Expert Advisory Group of ICSI and a Member of Corporate Laws Sub Committee of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries & Agriculture (MCCIA). He was a Director in United Western Bank Limited (Scheduled Bank) and Sampada Sahakari Bank Limited.
He is member of Governing Council of Deccan Education Society. He was also public representative director on PSE Securities Ltd, a subsidiary of Poona Stock Exchange Ltd.
